About Me

Welcome Music Lovers!  My name is Evan Bingham and I am a Registered Piano Technician (RPT) with the Piano Technician's Guild.  You can learn more about what an RPT is here.

I was born in Leominster, MA.  I started taking piano lessons when I was eight years old.  Like most eight year olds I despised the lessons and practicing, but of course now I am grateful for the experience because I had no clue I would be working with pianos on a daily basis!  However, my instrumental focus had switched over to learning classical and jazz guitar.  I attended Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, MI and received a bachelor of music degree in guitar performance while minoring in piano and voice.

Upon graduating from Cornerstone University, I had a growing interest in piano technology.  I moved to Chicago in the fall of 2007 to attend The Chicago School for Piano Technology.  It was a year long program of intense, hands-on training with some of the best technicians in the business.  There I was trained in many of the fundamental and advanced aspects of the piano technology business.  While at first I thought it was a risky move to switch career paths, I am extremely glad I chose this profession because it has become my passion.

Even before graduating the school, I had already passed two out of the three tests necessary to earn the Registered Piano Technician status.  I was hired right out of school in the fall of 2008 at a piano dealership in Spokane, Washington.  Here I had the opportunity to apply the knowledge learned in customers' homes and also in the workshop.  I worked there for a year before moving here to Columbus, passed my final RPT test in November 2009 to become officially registered, and was prepared to start a business.

I treat my customers and their pianos with the utmost respect and care, and would love the opportunity to make playing your piano the most enjoyable experience it can be.
